Gloria Nantulya is the Director and Head Coach of the Washington Wolves.
Coach Gloria has been playing hockey since she was 4 years old. When she was in high school in Kenya, her U14 field hockey team went undefeated for two straight years and upset their U21 senior team as well as the reigning national champions at a senior tournament. Her team was then chosen to represent Kenya on a tour to the Netherlands to face club and national youth teams, where they continued their undefeated streak. This is her favorite field hockey accomplishment.
Gloria was a four-year, NCAA Division I field hockey student-athlete at Syracuse University. At Syracuse, she was named to the NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association) National Academic Squad all four years. Gloria has also played club field hockey in Boston, Switzerland, Uganda and now in D.C. with the D.C. Dragons. Her most recent international competition was the 2014 Africa Club Championships that was held in Kampala, Uganda.
Gloria has been coaching field hockey for over 8 years, predominantly at summer and spring camps at universities, as well as club and rec field hockey in Maryland. She is also the current varsity head coach at Stone Ridge and a Site Director and coach for the USA Field Hockey Futures program.
Gloria holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and a Master’s degree in International Relations from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, both from Syracuse University. She has served as a communications officer at IMA World Health, and is currently a Communications Specialist with Abt Associates in Maryland.
