Josie Formica joined the Wolves coaching staff in fall 2023, after spending two seasons as a Graduate Assistant Field Hockey Coach at Georgetown University for two seasons. She works with our U12 and U10 players.

Prior to her role at Georgetown, Josie was a four-year member of the American University field hockey team. During her time at AU, she was a two-time academic All-Patriot League team selection and a four-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll honoree. Josie’s career at AU ended with an NCAA tournament appearance and a Patriot League Championship. She appeared in 58 games during her four-year career and started in 41 of them. She registered seven goals and 21 shots during her time at AU and added two game-winning goals. Josie was a pivotal part of the AU conference championship team after starting all 17 games during the season.

While in high school and college, Josie coached U10, U12, and U14 teams at her former club, SPark. She has a bachelor’s degree in American Studies from American University and a master’s degree in engaged and public humanities from Georgetown University.
