Karen Mata has been playing field hockey since middle school. She graduated from Walter Johnson High school in 2012, where she played on the field hockey team. Karen then went on to play field hockey at Stevenson University from 2012-14. During her time at Stevenson, Karen was a part of the NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad. She then transferred to the University of Maryland, College Park to pursue a degree in biochemistry and joined the club field hockey team.

Karen was the Head Coach of the Walter Johnson field hockey program for several years and is now a varsity assistant coach at Stone Ridge. She works primarily with our U14 team and brings years of experience coaching and developing young athletes.
